Manchester Derby Review

Posted 9th April 2015

The clash promises to be an explosive one as Manchester United have shown strong form claiming 25 points in their last 10 games, whilst the Sky Blues limp towards the finish line having lost their last four consecutive away games. Many said at the start of 2015 that the Premier League had become a two horse race, but City's dire performances have found them struggling in fourth place with Manuel Pellegrini's sole aim now surely to cling on to Champions League qualification.

By contrast, the red side of Manchester has enjoyed a fairly positive few months under Louis van Gaal after a slightly rough start to their season, and many will be backing the Red Devils to finally overcome their eternal rivals having lost to the Citizens in their last four encounters in the league.

Spaniards Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are in fine form of late and both have been amongst the goals frequently in recent games. Juan Mata is 9/1 with bet365 to bag the first goal of the match, whilst Herrera is a fantastic 16/1. In equally good form is goalkeeper David de Gea, who has been widely acknowledged as a keeper who has become truly world class this season. With Sergio Agüero's woes in front of goal continuing, it's not beyond the realms of possibility for United to win to nil, priced at 7/2.

Going in to the match, United are narrow favourites at 6/4, whilst City are priced 15/8. Despite not scoring in five Premier League matches, Agüero is still the favourite to notch a goal anytime at 11/8 with Wayne Rooney the second most fancied to score at 6/4. A selection that presents great value in the anytime goalscorer market is David Silva, who has found the net with regularity this season and the Spanish maestro has easily been one of Man City's most consistent players this term; he's 3/1 to bag another goal this weekend.
